Central Virginia Health Services (CVHS), based locally out of the Charles City Regional Health and Regional Health Services (CCRHS) has awarded funding to hire Outreach and Enrollment staff (O&E).

The new staff will be available to provide information to anyone in the community about the new Health Care Marketplace (also known and the Affordable Health Insurance Exchanges). From October 1 to March 1, 2014, the health insurance marketplace will open enrollment to individuals and families for health insurance coverage. Coverage will begin on Jan. 1, 2014, with uninsured patients at that time facing a penalty if not enrolled in a qualified health plan.

CVHS is offering assistance to first-time health insurance shoppers by making the enrollment process easier. CVHS has several certified counselors throughout central Virginia who have received extensive training on the marketplace and are available as a local resource. The local contact is Lindsey Johnson, a certified application counselor who is available to speak to individuals and groups to provide accurate information about the Marketplace. She will provide assistance in helping families and individuals navigate through the marketplace and find programs that fit and meet their needs and budgets. Johnson may be reached at 432-6553 or by email at enrollment@cvhsinc.org.
