Letter to the editor: Thanks all who helped with ‘Swing for the Arts
On Saturday, September 14, New Kent High School held the Swing for the Arts Golf tournament at Royal New Kent Golf Course. This tournament, our first, was held to benefit the NKHS Visual & Performing Arts Department with funds raised used to support the many costs associated with the Kent England Drama performance and to fund scholarships for students seeking to continue an education in the Arts after high school.
The tournament was a tremendous success with golfers competing for a variety of prizes donated by area merchants and businesses as well as items donated by the Washington Redskins, Richmond Flying Squirrels, Norfolk Admirals and our own Drama Parents among others.
A sincere “thank you” goes out to not only the golfers who participated, the students and parents who assisted and the fine folks at Royal New Kent Golf Course, but the many donors and sponsors who helped make this first year tournament one that we will look forward to continuing in the future. Thanks go out to Medlin Ford, the New Kent Rotary Club, Printwell, Inc., Anchor Financial Group, Dr. Vicki Tibbs, DDS, C & F Bank, Quinton, Go Bucket List Travel, Third Base Grill, All American Maintenance Co., Atlantic Growers, Five Star Construction, NAPA Auto Store of Providence Forge, Fransisco, Robinson & Associates, Citizens & Farmers Bank, Virginia Vocational Rehabilitation & Career Counseling, The Washington Redskins, The Richmond Flying Squirrels, The Norfolk Admirals, Trophies by Billie Grey, The Golden Eagle Golf Course, Piankatank River Golf Course, The Golden Horseshoe Golf Course, King Carter Golf Course, Kiskiack Golf Course, Williamsburg National Golf Course, Harvey’s Auto Parts, The Seabreeze Restaurant, Colonial Heritage Golf Course, Queenfield Golf Course, Lee’s Hill Golf Course, Cahoon Plantation Golf Course, Active Life Fitness Center and Becky Ringley & State Farm.
