Historical marker dedication

Gov. Bob McDonnell (second from left) was on hand for the dedication of the First English Thanksgiving historical marker near Berkeley Plantation last Friday in Charles City. The marker signifies that Virginia was the first location to have the holiday in the nation and depicts the significance of the occasion. Joining Gov. McDonnell are (l to r) Berkeley Plantation owner Malcolm Jamison, county representatives Denise Smith (commissioner of revenue), Gilbert Smith (District 1 supervisor), and Michelle Johnson (assistant county administrator), Mr. and Mrs. Graham Woodlief, and Dr. William C. Bosher Jr. Below, a closeup view of the marker displays the history of the first English Thanksgiving.Andre' Jones photos
