New Kent Schools recognize HERO winners

New Kent’s School Board recognized 11 students from all four buildings as winners of the HERO (Help Encourage Respect for Others) program sponsored by the Kip Kephart Foundation at its May 5 regular meeting.

Through the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, students constructed posters and digital media in the contest. The contest focused on delivering a message of bully prevention and encouraging self-esteem.

Winners from New Kent High are Elizabeth Heath, Briana Gibson, and Ayron Taliferro. Top prize winners from New Kent Middle are Amber Glenn and Alex Peace. George Watkins Elementary winners are Lauren Vick, Hayley Larkin, and Briana Shaw, and New Kent Elementary winners are Hailee Robert, Fallon Greenwalt, and Dana Douglas.

Through the Kip Kephart Foundation, $1,375 in total prize money was given to the winners.
