Letters to the editor: Notifying NK citizens that school opens Sep. 2
Dear New Kent County Citizens:
New Kent County Schools and the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office would like to take a moment to remind the citizens of New Kent County that schools will be starting back on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
We want to remind everyone to be mindful of the traffic around the schools in the mornings and afternoons.
As we get back into the school season, we have continued our efforts to ensure the safety of our New Kent students, so please be patient when entering our schools and parking areas. Also the buses will be picking up and dropping off students in the community, so make sure you know what to do if you are faced with a bus stopping to pick up or drop off students.
Remember if you are not sure what to do when a bus has stopped to pick up or drop off students, safely stop and then continue on once the red lights on the bus are no longer flashing and the kids are either safely on the bus or off the highway.
We would also like to thank the citizens of New Kent County for your continuing support and encourage you to remember the county motto, PRIDE IN THE PAST – FAITH IN THE FUTURE.
Sincerely,
Farrar W. Howard
New Kent County Sheriff
David A. Myers, Ph. D.
Superintendent of Schools
