Food Drive benefits Friendship Cafe

Distribution of items collected during a Thanksgiving food drive sponsored by Charles City Middle School's PTA to benefit Senior Connections' Friendship Cafe in Charles City took place Friday at the Ruthville High School location. Food drive organizers, Senior Connections officials, and Friendship Cafe members, a group of a dozen ladies who meet weekly, pose above behind boxes filled with the 351 canned and nonperishable items collected by CCMS students. The students took part in a two-week campaign to see which homeroom could collect the most. Christina Tillery's sixth grade homeroom won the contest with 139 items and will receive the grand prize consisting of pizza donated by Domino's.
