Eric Parsley, a New Kent native and current student at Christopher Newport University, has been tabbed to serve as a leader at the Youth Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Project (YADAPP) summer conference.

Sponsored by Virginia’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), the conference is aimed to empower young adults to become involved in keeping their community alcohol and drug free.

Parsley’s selection is unique because he becomes the first intern in the program to serve as a top leader. He will occupy the role at the conference held at Longwood July 20-24.

Parsley expressed delight in his selection as a leader.

“If I could sum up YADAPP in one word, it would be ‘explosive’” said Parsley. “It has made me into the leader I am today.”

YADAPP hosts students from grades nine to twelve and are divided into teams. Parlsey becomes the fifth New Kent native selected for the position. For more information on the program, visit www.yadapp.com.
