Pemberton honored in New Kent

Josephine Pemberton (left) is honored with a resolution for her 33 and a half years of contributions to Heritage Public Library during New Kent Board of Supervisors' Feb. 9 regular meeting. The plaque, being presented by District 3 supervisor James Burrell, recognizes Pemberton for numerous accomplishments. Among them include her roll in World War II, being an active member of the NAACP since 1943, volunteering at Quin Rivers Agency, supporting New Kent Department of Social Services' Food Bank, and logging more than 5,000 volunteer hours since 1981 at Heritage Public Library.Andre' Jones photo
