‘Empty Bowl Project’

New Kent High School art teacher Susan Musselman (left) and assistant principal Wendy James (right) present a check in the amount of $745 to Jon Martz of New Kent Social Services department from funds raised through the "Empty Bowl Project." Students constructed bowls from glaze and traveled to Rosewood Pottery to have them glazed and fired for completion. The bowls were sold in a silent auction to prospective bidders, resulting in the raised funds. Approximately 44 bowls were sold with the proceeds going to the social services' food bank to provide meals for families in need in New Kent County.
