SOL Prep Night at Watkins Elementary

Parents of fourth graders at G.W. Watkins Elementary School get a firsthand look at sample SOL questions during the school's SOL Prep Night held Tuesday evening. Parents and students in grades 3-5 learned about changes in which tests students will be taking along with alterations in question format on the upcoming tests. Third graders will no longer be taking science and social studies, only reading and math. Fourth and fifth graders will take reading, math, and Virginia history. Fifth graders will also take science. Test questions will require students to do more thinking to determine correct answers instead of finding the answers. That means questions are moving away from multiple choice format. Below, third grade students and parents listen as the SOL changes are outlined.
