Four Rivers FSA accepting nomination for local New Kent committee

Four Rivers USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) has announced the nomination period for local FSA committees beginning June 15 and concluding Aug. 3.

Executive Director Ashlee Washburn said nominations for representatives from New Kent County to serve three-year terms will be accepted by mail or submitting an application to the Four Rivers FSA office.

“County committees are unique to FSA and allow producers to have a voice on federal farm program implementation at the local level,” said Washburn in a press release.

To be eligible to serve on the FSA county committee, a person must participate or cooperate in an agency administered program, be eligible to vote in a county committee election, and reside in the Local Administrative Area (LAA) where they are nominated. This year nominations and elections will be held for LAA 2, which includes New Kent.

Producers may nominate themselves or other candidates, as well as minority and women farmers and ranchers may also nominate candidates. To become a nominee, individuals must sign form FSA-669A. Forms are available in the FSA Four Rivers Office or online at www.fsa.usda.gov/elections.
