Fary scholarships awarded to two Quinton residents

Julia Charis Kinder, a recent graduate of Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School, and Halie Marisa Maass, a graduating member of New Kent High School’s class of 2015, are recipients of the Thomas Peterson and Alvin Jenettie Roane Fary Memorial Scholarship fund.

Each young lady has been awarded a four-year, $24,000 scholarship through the fund. The scholarship is available to students from 16 counties in eastern Virginia.

Halie is currently attending Old Dominion University in Norfolk. She is the daughter of Laura Luck and Bruce Maass Jr. and currently resides in Quinton.

Julia will continue her studies at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland. She is the daughter of Christina and John Kinder and also resides in Quinton.
