USDA offers grants for projects to educate new farmers

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that $2.5 million in grants are now available for projects to educate new and underserved farmers about more than 20 Farm Service Agency (FSA) programs that can provide financial, disaster, or technical assistance in the agricultural community.

Grants will be awarded to nonprofits and public higher education institutions that develop proposals to improve farmer education on topics such as financial training, record keeping, property inheritance, and more.

Evaluation periods to review applications will have deadlines of Nov. 20, Jan. 22, 2016, Mar. 18, 2016, and May 27, 2016. Awards will range between $20,000 and $100,000 per applicant.
