Letter to the Editor: Says Williams has tools to be New Kent treasurer
I am writing this letter to support Donna C. Williams as a candidate for New Kent County treasurer.
Donna worked for New Kent approximately nine years. She started in 2007 as deputy treasurer and started classes to achieve the Certified Master Governmental Deputy Treasurer certification. She achieved this through the University of Virginia, Weldon Cooper of Public Service, and the Treasurer’s Association of Virginia.
Donna was responsible for daily duties delegated to her in 2008 when Herbert Jones left for active duty assignment. Her commitment was recognized in a letter from New Kent Human Resources that read, “Your commitment to providing outstanding customer service to the citizens of New Kent County is both recognized and appreciated.”
In 2011, Donna’s superior recommended her to receive the Master Governmental Deputy Treasurer. Herbert Jones went on to state in his letter, “During my tenure, Donna worked tirelessly and diligently to achieve this recognition and she is most deserving of this honor.”
When one considers candidates for a position in public office, all of their education, experience, training, and dedication are contemplated. Let’s clarify that being friendly and amiable are only a small portion, while ever so important. Program completion and initiation are crucial and being able to perform under stress, able to assist in resolutions via dedication and critical thinking, are not just preferred but required of our elected official.
When considering Donna Williams, her education, experience, and track record speaks for itself. Not only are we considering a candidate that has devoted herself without equivocation to New Kent, but she and her husband has managed and owned a local business for 20 years.
Donna C. Williams is your choice. Donna has consistently been your energy and will continue to move New Kent County forward with her best aspirations and endeavors.
