Letter to the Editor: Says Stiers’ actions merit vote for supervisor

I was the president of Woodhaven Shores Property Owners Association in Oct. 2011 when a tornado ripped through our area. The tornado devastated our neighborhood, blocking roads and turning our lives upside down.

A resident of Woodhaven informed me Ron Stiers’ reputation for community service. I called Ron, who wasn’t even a New Kent supervisor at the time, jumped into action and set up “Operation Love Thy Neighbor.” He secured the volunteer services of local, heavy equipment contractors and with the help of local residents and other community groups, we began massive clean-up. We spent 13 weekends bringing things back to normal.

Every week, Ron was one of the first to show up to work and the last to leave. His leadership in the cleanup helped to return our community to normal and saved residents a huge expense.

I will be proud to cast my vote on Nov. 3 for Ron Stiers’ re-election as my supervisor.
