Breaking ground for broadband

Charles City supervisors, state dignitaries, and project representatives use shovels for the ceremonial dig to launch the Charles City dark fiber and broadband project on Nov. 25. The momentous occasion signifies the beginning of bringing high speed internet to the county thanks to a $600,000 community development grant from the state with a $55,000 match from the Economic Development Authority. Tower construction is scheduled to begin Nov. 30 with the project tentatively scheduled for completion in December.
