Charlotte Holley, a broker at Holley Realty in Quinton, was recognized in July as a 2015 Richmond Five-Star Professional in the real estate, mortgage, and insurance industry by Richmond magazine. Holley was among the recipients chosen based on client satisfaction rating, applicable state licensing requirements, employed as a licensed professional for at least three years, favorable regulatory and compliant history review, and satisfied minimum client volume or production on a one-year and three-year basis. Only seven percent of professionals in each category receive the award each year.
Virginia’s Department of Transportation (VDOT) is providing recommendations and answers to drainage problems in Charles City and New Kent due to recent amount of rainfall. More than 400 calls within the last month have entered the office regarding drainage issues. While VDOT is working to prevent road flooding by keeping state-owned drainage systems maintained and clear of debris, they are encouraging citizens to play roles to prevent blockages. AT&T has upgraded an additional mobile Internet cell site in New Kent as part of its improvements to provide coverage for area residents and business. The cell site is one part of AT&T’s efforts to expand 4G LTE coverage to drive investment and innovation to deliver a better Internet experience for customers. “As part of the New Kent community, we’re always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is another way we’re accomplishing that,” said J. Michael Schweder, president of AT&T Mid-Atlantic in a July press release.
Charles City County High School’s Army JROTC “Panther” Battalion will have the honor to have the cadet color guard present the national colors during Aug. 20 pre-game ceremonies at FEDEX field in Landover, Maryland. The color guard will take the field prior to a 7:30 p.m. Thursday night kickoff between the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions. Four cadets along with JROTC instructor SFC Steward Greene will be presenting America’s colors in front of 80,000 fans.
