Charles City spelling bee

Above, Charles City seventh grader and district spelling bee champion Delaney Narron focuses in as the judges pronounce the final word at the Feb. 24 morning competition. Narron successfully spelled the word "fringe", outlasting a 27-round duel with sixth grader Sophia Hall in a competitive back and forth battle. Narron will move on to participate in the state spelling bee championship on March 12 in Richmond.
