Adamson receives youth award

Lucy Adamson, a junior at New Kent High School, was recognized at the 49th Annual Brotherhood-Sisterhood Youth Award ceremony on Feb. 11 in Richmond.

The annual award is sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Greater Richmond and is awarded to one high school junior or senior from each of the 50-plus Richmond area schools.

Lucy was recognized by the organization for her ability as a leader, a peacekeeper and her calming influence as a peacekeeper. She also has participated in repairing homes and helped those who have limited mental capacities. Lucy also is a leader in the BETA Club, participates in Goodwill Projects and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Lucy also received Honorable Mention recognition for submitting an essay in the annual challenge and will receive a $200 scholarship.

Lucy is the daughter of Margaret Adamson of Providence Forge.
