New Kent VSI scholarship winners

Above, New Kent Sheriff Joe McLaughlin Jr. (right) presents New Kent High School senior Cheyanne Hall (second from right) a certificate as the recipient of the Virginia Sheriff’s Institute scholarship. She will continue her studies at Rappahannock Community College with an emphasis in criminal justice. Accompanying McLaughlin and Hall are school resource officer Corp. Gerald Simpson and Bridging Communities criminal justice instructor Steven Dalton. Below, Michael Nash (center), a senior at Liberty University, is also recognized as a recipient of the Virginia Sheriff’s Institute scholarship. He is currently studying administration of justice and is scheduled to graduate in December. Nash, who is also a member of New Kent Sheriff’s Office auxiliary program, is accompanied by Simpson (left) and McLaughlin (right).
