New Kent Historical Society names middle school contest winners
New Kent Historical Society have announced award winners for its annual writing and art contest for middle school students.
In the art division, Clinton Childrers image of Martha Washington earned first place, while Kendal Vorous’ illustration of James Armistead Lafayette earned the runner-up position.
In the essay category, Campbell Gowdy’s story on Pocahontas earned her a first place finish in the contest. Finishing as runner up was Kallie Clark, who wrote about James Armistead Lafayette and his contributions as he spied on the British.
