VACP President’s Award

Thomas W. Turner (right), a Charles City resident and Virginia State Police Captain, was named the 2016 recipient of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police President's Award during a Sept. 20 ceremony in Roanoke. A 50-year veteran of the Virginia State Police, Turner was recognized for his numerous contributions to law enforcement that ranged from working a dispatcher, helping establish the sex offender registry in Virginia, and chairing a number of committees to improve safety for residents in the state of Virginia. The soon-to-be retiree is receiving the award from VACP President David C. Sloggie.
