New Kent residents complete police academy

Dylan McNew (above) and Ethan Townsend (below) are joined by New Kent County Sheriff J. Joe McLaughlin Jr. as the two New Kent residents graduated from the Hanover Criminal Justice Academy on Dec. 5. The two completed 23 weeks of coursework, training, and learning the ins and outs of law enforcement. Townsend was presented with the Top Skills Award as well as the Top Overall Award, while McNew garnered recognition for earning the highest grade on the law enforcement certification test.
