New Kent Strong essay winners

Winners of the HERO New Kent Strong essay contest received praise and recognition during the Mar. 6 regular meeting of New Kent’s School Board. In conjunction with the Kip Kephart Foundation, winners wrote essays revolving around the theme “Being Kind is Being Strong.” Winners from George Watkins Elementary are Quynn Smith (1st), Hope Giewont (2nd), Taylor Rose (3rd), and Catherine Harris (4th). New Kent Elementary School winners are Bianca Yates (1st), Madison Barnett (2nd), Cassidy Larochelle (3rd), and Campbell Coyle (4th). Placing in the contest from New Kent Middle School are Andrea Sorensen (1st), Kirsten Miller (2nd), Clara Foster (3rd), and Jack Swynford (4th).
