Rappahannock Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society inducted more than 70 students, including five from New Kent County, during a ceremony held April 21 at Essex High School.

Honor society inductees from New Kent are *Kyra Attridge, Isabella Cashin, Katelin Gannon, *Justin Mitchell, and Bobbi Pirhala (* denotes student who is dually enrolled at RCC and a high school or home school program).

The Alpha Lambda Omicron Chapter of the Society, which recognizes students at RCC succeeding academically, invites those with GPAs of 3.5 or higher to join and benefit from scholarship opportunities and acknowledgment in the program and schools.

Ceremony speakers included Dr. Marty Brooks, honor society faculty advisors Dr. Matt Brent and Kelly Cutchin, and guest speaker Congressman Rob Wittman.

After greeting and congratulating the new inductees, the congressman told the students, “How you use [your education] to not only improve yourself but to help people around you is the greatest value that I believe your education has.”
