Editorial: Thank you to the community as Chronicle takes next step

As the Chronicle takes the leap of faith into a weekly paper, we are starting an editorial page. As I write this first one, it was a very easy decision to a topic, and that is to thank the community.

I joined the Chronicle staff in 2012 and have quickly worked my way into the position that I am in today. I like to thank Alan Chamberlain for the opportunity to continue to write for a paper that was established in 1994. The thing I enjoy the most about the paper is that it is a community paper with news that affects your community; our community.

Next, I’d like to thank our advertisers. Alan has always believed that news of what is going on should be free. With that said, our advertisers have been continuously supportive of us and as this paper continues to grow, I want to thank them publicly for the opportunity. There has been a plethora of advertisers that has supported us with a list too long to name them all. But trust me, it doesn’t go unnoticed and I thank you.

Finally, I want to thank the readers. Your interest about what’s going on in the community is what keeps the newspaper going. When you pick up a newspaper, you support not only the Chronicle, but our advertisers as well. Because of your support, we launched a website shortly after my arrival, and those numbers have been steady over the past five years and has stories that have reached both state and nationwide. For that, we thank our readers.

Well, that will sum up my first editorial. There, that wasn’t so bad now was it?
