Virginia senators named honorary co-chairs for ‘Green vs. New Kent’ 50th anniversary

Senator Tim Kaine and Senator Mark Warner will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs of the 50th anniversary of the Green vs. New Kent” Supreme Court case.

The Green decision established the duties of the school boards to affirmatively eliminate all vestiges of state-imposed segregation. It also placed an affirmative duty on school boards to integrate schools and is recognized as the most significant public school desegregation decision of the Supreme Court following Brown vs. Board of Education.
