NKCDC announces youth financial literacy program
New Kent Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) has announced the launching of its Youth Financial Literacy Program.
The non-profit organization implemented the program to give youth in the community a head start to financial success. An initial workshop took place over a four-day period in June at Second Liberty Baptist Church and consisted of middle school students spending four hours a day engaged in learning basics about money and financial management.
The program was presented in partnership with C&F Bank. Participating students each received $100 in grant money through the Hazel Watson Mission Offering to assist with opening a savings account.
