Virginia Association of Counties (VACO) representative Phyllis Errico (second from left) presents Charles City County its first VACO Achievement Award at Tuesday night’s meeting of the county’s board of supervisors. The county received the plaque as the result of its LOVE sign that was created by students at Charles City Elementary School. Judges praised the sign for its involvement with the county’s youngest citizens as it is the only one in the Commonwealth of Virginia to be designed and completed by elementary school students. Accepting the award on behalf of the county are (l to r) Charles City Board of Supervisor chairman and District 1 representative Gilbert Smith, Charles City County administrator Michelle Johnson, and Charles City Elementary School art teacher Elysa Harris.Andre' Jones photo
