Honoring Dr. Calvin Green

Above, Mary Green, the wife of the late Dr. Calvin Green, removes the tarp to reveal a plaque honoring her late husband during an Oct. 17 ceremony at New Kent High School. Dr. Green fought to end racial segregation in New Kent County schools, leading to the federally recognized landmark case that resulted in desegregation of school systems in 1968. Below is a close-up view of the plaque that hangs on the wall inside of New Kent High School.
