New Kent High School and Bridging Communities Regional Career and Technical student Noah Babin placed first in the Computer Programming category and was among five students who received gold medals at the SkillsUSA state competition held at Virginia Beach Convention Center. Twenty students from the school participated in the meet with eleven students earning medals and the five gold medalists earning bids to the national competition. Local students earning medals were Dylan Furr (New Kent- 1st, Power Equipment Technology), Jonathan Reynosa Gonzalez (New Kent- 2nd, Computer Programing), the team of Joseph LaPean (Charles City) and Tyler Williams (New Kent- 2nd place, Web Design), and the team of Barton Leader III (New Kent) and Michael Venney (2nd place- Interactive Application and Game Development.)
