Above, Brenda Hawkins (left) holds back tears admittingly as she receives a retirement gift from Charles City Superintendent of Schools David Gaston as part of recognition ceremonies held on May 16. Hawkins started teaching at Charles City High School in 1993, teaching English to grades 9-12 during her 26-year tenure. Below, the Rev.
