Letter to the Editor: Thanks those who supported the New Kent County Fair
On behalf of the New Kent County association, I would like to thank the nearly 2,500 people who attended the New Kent Fair on Aug. 17-18. We thank all the vendors, exhibitors, sponsors, and volunteers who made it happen!
Each year we make an effort to include new ideas in our exhibits, such as digital art. We welcome suggestions of other ideas from our community. We also bring new activities to the fair, such as the Game Truck, Connect 4 Basketball, the Donut Dangle, and the Hula Hoop contest. We also gave fair-goers the opportunity to create various crafts. However, we continue to have popular activities return each year, which include Chicken-Pickin’ Bingo, the local petting zoo, coloring table, barrel train, and a variety of inflatables. Each year the community looks forward to being entertained by Jesse the Juggler and Steve the Magician. Our exhibits are open to adults and children, with photography being the most popular.
The association is composed of 12 volunteer residents who prepare for the fair for nine months. We welcome new members, new ideas, and new volunteers. That big tent doesn’t go up by itself! Please join us and make a contribution of your time and energy to make it a great fair!
