“Adopt-a-Trail” launched by Virginia Capital Trail Foundation
The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a new anti-litter initiative as part of the Virginia Capital Trail’s fourth birthday separation.
The “Adopt-a-Trail program” is geared to have residents adopt a portion of the 52-mile trail to keep it clean, similar to VDOT’s “Adopt-a-Highway” program.
“We are excited to join with our friends at VDOT on a program that will help enhance the naturally aesthetic appeal of the Virginia Capital Trail,” said Cat Anthony, executive director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. “Making the Capital Trail litter free is consistent with our values of being good environmental stewards in our community.”
More than 20 miles of the Virginia Capital Trail run through Charles City County. For information about the program, email adoptatrail@virginiacapitaltrail.org.
