Charles City resident Amy Hicks (center) is the recipient of the sixth annual Carl G. Luebben Soil Health and Water Quality Award for contributions to conservation in Virginia. Hicks operates Amy’s Garden, a cut flower and organic produce operation in the county. The award is presented based on outstanding management practices and commitments to regenerating soils, generous spirit, and community service. Flanking Hicks is Dan Leubben, son of the late Carl Luebben, and VCE Community Viability and Food Specialist Eric Bendfeldt.
