Editorial: Keep your body strong while you stay at home

During this period in world history, we sit back and wait for things to get back to normal. However, there are steps we can take so that we do not bring on our own demise.

During this time where people will be under quarantine until June, the urgency to keep our bodies strong is important. I am not a hypocrite. I myself need to start working out again. We all want to live longer, so it’s time that we all start making sure we get some exercise every day and practice better eating habits.

We have seen what bad eating habits can do to a person’s body. Trust me, not exercising and eating in the house all day while binge watching our favorite shows will lead to an increased risk in heart disease and diabetes. The coronavirus wouldn’t even need to take you out at that point. You would do it yourself.

We are on a strict stay-at-home policy by the governor and that is fine. We can still get out and walk. If you are with others, use distance and use a mask to cover your face.

Sitting at home all day can lead to depression, especially in a time of uncertainty. We already have enough issues with mental illness in this country and this pandemic along with unnecessary scare tactics daily compounds the issue.

We must continue to be smart about our decisions. Stay clean, wash your hands, and keep safe distances. We must use this time to become better overall and not let the virus beat us into a corner that we can’t get out of.

This is the time we either fold as individuals or become stronger than ever. Let’s come out of this situation with our heads held high knowing that we can conquer anything that attempts to ruin our way of life. The choice is yours!
