Editorial: Don’t lose perspective after working to reach a dream

By Robb Johnson | November 3, 2020 8:06 pm

In life, there are those who are go-getters and those who stand in place to wait for handouts. Those bystanders often wait for the handout and blame everyone else for their problems. I hope that people like this turn around and find the help or wakeup call that allows you to break the cycle.

Now, to the people who hustle and grind seven days a week with no patience of slowing down, this is for you.
Sometimes those of us who are successful lose perspective. We kind of take for granted just how hard we are truly working to make our dreams and aspirations come true. If you are one of these people, then you understand that putting pressure on yourself is a daily thing and that can sometimes become very taxing.

It can be hard, but sometimes you need to sit back and admire how hard you are working without getting complacent. The problem with admiring your hard work is that you fall into the doldrums and cannot get out of your own way because you thought you have done enough.

Let’s be clear. It’s okay to give yourself a pat on the back sometimes and give yourself a break once in a while. However, use this time to critique what you can do better to make your situation even better than before.

When it comes to success, reaching the top can only mean a steep fall back down. When you get to the top, make sure you have the tools to stay there. In life, you can never have enough money and security. Some call it selfish; I call it keeping yourself in a safe place.

I really do not understand people who want to be broke and have others take care of them day in and day out. I understand people who are disabled or have conditions where they cannot take care of themselves, but when you are able-bodied and you have the same 24 hours as the next person to do something, then it is no excuse not to find success. I really do not care how you do it if it is legal and you put your hard work into it.

I do not accept laziness. Laziness does not build dynasties or empires. I hope this inspires someone to get up and get them something today.
