Editorial: Let’s get it done in 2021
The year 2020 was filled with so many ups and downs. The bad moments seemed to outweigh the good moments for so many people. I am here to tell you no matter what your beliefs are, going into 2021 we have to stick together to make this right again. We are Americans who have strong bloodlines of people from many backgrounds who have fought and clawed to make this country what it is.
I understand the optimism going into 2021. I understand that many are just feeling completely hopeless. This is understandable, however, we are a county that cannot let the events of 2020 bring us down. We have seen things like this before and those before us rose up fought through it in the midst of a war. Then, a collapse, depression, and another war on top of that.
I think that we are blessed. The doomsday predictions of the virus have not come anywhere near what has been predicted. For most Americans, we are doing what we need to do to still work and live our lives safely. The way we really want to live is not back yet, but with technology and belief, we can get back to normal.
I get asked all the time if we should take a vaccine. I simply say just to do the right thing and not worry about it. If you want to take it, that is your business. If not, that is okay as well. Do not keep focusing on this virus.
Focus on staying healthy and putting pressure on Congress. Remember everyone, they work for us and not the other way around. Put pressure on these people to make sure that all Americans and small businesses who are struggling stay open. It makes no sense that big companies continue to thrive while local stores shut their doors. It is ridiculous to see start-up businesses work so hard to open only to close so soon.
Let us call it what it is. Many things that we have seen throughout 2020 have been a complete joke and a slap in the face. All of us are trying to accomplish the American dream. In 2021, our combined resolution is to say to Congress to do its job. They need to do what they are paid to do. That is a demand from the hardworking tax paying Americans.
No more talking folks. Get the job done.
