Arts Alive scholarship now available

Arts Alive Inc. is offering scholarships that are eligible to students of New Kent and other surrounding localities.

The C. Herbert Brown Jr. Performing Arts Scholarship for seniors planning to major in performing arts in the area of music (instrumental or voice) and performing arts (dance or theater) will be presented to two graduating seniors. The Andy Conklin Visual Arts Scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior who plans to major in studio art, theater/costume design, and stage/set design.

Scholarships are worth $1,000 each are due by 5 p.m. on May 3. Scholarship recipients will be eligible for the Dr. Shirley Carter Olsson recurring scholarship in the amount of $500 the following year.
