Kindergarten registration to begin virtually on Apr. 1

Kindergarten registration in Charles City and New Kent County will begin virtually on Apr. 1, 2021.

With safety concerns in mind, Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond have announced that it will conduct its format virtually.

“In the past year, we all know that COVID-19 has been a stressful and challenging period for children, families, and school divisions,” said Rich Schultz, executive director of Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond. “This year, it is especially critical for parents to reach out to their school division in the Spring so they can be connected with all available resources to address any learning loss and to ensure their child is well-prepared to start Kindergarten.”

Information for New Kent County Public Schools can be viewed at www.newkentschools.org, followed by clicking on “for parents” to see what elementary zone your child falls in and for assistance in registration. The school may also be called at 966-9650.

Charles City County Public Schools information can be viewed at www.ccps.net under the parents section for more information. The phone number that the school can be reached at is 652-4617.
