Heritage Public Library held a hybrid community meeting on June 30 to discuss methods to get preschoolers, students, and adults interested in science.

The session, entitled “Spark Science Exploration,” consisted of nine community members and five library staff members providing dialogue and conversation on the topic. Areas ranged from providing solar system kits to recycling pens to spark interest.

“This was a great conversation,” said Jan Marry, Adult Services Program Coordinator of Heritage Public Library in a press release. “Science literacy is so vital to understand health information and is the foundation for many of today’s fastest growing jobs.”

The conversation was conducted as part of a grant received by Heritage Public Library form the American Library Association (ALA). The $3,000 grant will be used to purchase science books and equipment based on community input.
