Barney named executive director of Thrive Virginia

Thrive Virginia, which serves New Kent and Charles City County, has announced Gillian Barney as its new executive director.

Barney has worked with the agency since 2015, with the most recent being the interim acting executive director. She has 24 years of experience in the nonprofit sector with an extensive background in grant management in compliance.

Barney will focus on refining and implementing the agency’s strategic plan, which includes its core mission to collaborate with community-based partners to create pathways to self-sufficiency for individuals and families.
