Editorial: Being thankful for the opportunity to work at the Chronicle
This year is my fourth at the New Kent-Charles City Chronicle, and I will tell you that it has been a blast.
I write this editorial thanking everyone for the support that you all have given to the Chronicle over the years. I especially want to thank the people who have embraced me over the years. This journey has been nothing short of amazing as it has allowed me to see different places while traveling for events.
I have also been able to expand my knowledge as a journalist. My love for sports has always been there and it will never leave. However, the ability for me to do different things and face different challenges has made me an overall better journalist. I had no idea the impact that this paper made until I started as an intern in 2011 as a liberal arts major at Virginia State University.
I was embraced by Mr. Alan Chamberlain and Mr. Andre’ Jones who gave me the tools I needed to do the job and feel comfortable once I was hired full-time in Aug. 2017. The Chronicle is a family for sure, and we look out for one another and that is how a journey is supposed to be. Notice that I do not call this a job. If it’s something you are passionate about, then you will enjoy the journey every step of the way.
I appreciate the support and will continue to put out great work for years to come. The Chronicle represents the people between two great counties that deserve nothing but the best coverage. That is what we hope to continue to bring to you for a very long time.
Thank you for your support and remember that papers are on newsstands every Thursday. We are also located online at www.nkccnews.com.
