Editorial: Don’t wait around until the new year to start your resolution

We are now in November. Thanksgiving and Christmas and ultimately the new year are drawing closer.

Every year, I see so many people, including myself, making resolutions and never following through on them. I keep wondering how we accomplish this goal as individuals without completely forgetting about them by late February. I have come up with a solution to this issue and I hope that many of you will adapt this method.

Instead of making a resolution at the beginning of the year, start it at the beginning of December.

Starting early and getting a routine going allows you not to get caught up in the emotions of the New Year resolution craze seen on television or social media. I feel that starting early is the best way to go. This way, you are more confident in what you are doing and not doing it for trends.

I also suggest not broadcasting what you are doing. Social media can be draining and trying to stay up to standard, especially if you have a brand, can make that brand suffer. I suggest doing the work first and finding some consistency. Once you have that, people can look at you as a real inspiration and not just a flash in the pan.

Show people that you represent something different and authentic. The most important thing is to prove to yourself that your goals are attainable. When you are trying to reach your goals, it can be hard. It takes time. Don’t let the emotion take you out of what you’re doing.

You can reach your goals whether you have a brand or not. You may just want to make yourself feel better. Just remember that starting early and preparing is the best way to go. No one ever became successful without preparation.
