Grant of $37,000 awarded to preserve records in New Kent County’s Circuit Court
New Kent County’s Circuit Court has been awarded a grant to preserve local records.
The Library of Virginia announced that $37,683 will be used to preserve documents in New Kent. Funds will be used to conserve Land Book (Land Tax Book), 1884; Personal Property Tax Books 1863, 1865-1869; Plat Book 2, p. 1-126, 1938-1952; Plat Book 2, p. 126-250, 1903, 1953-1954; Plat Book 3A, p. 1-126, 1958-1961; Plat Book 3A, p. 127-250, 1962-1967; Plat Book 7, 1974-1976, and Register of Births and Deaths 1890-1896.
“We’re very excited to continue to preserve New Kent County’s records,” said New Kent County Circuit Court Clerk Amy P. Crump in a press release. “These records are the history of our county. We have an obligation to make sure that they are available for future generations.”
