New Kent High School’s Wheeler wins public service announcement category at state film festival

New Kent High School’s Peyton Wheeler was announced as the winner of the Public Service Announcement category in the Virginia High School League’s Film Festival on June 4.

Wheeler created a one-minute video entitled “When will you be home?” to bring awareness about the dangers of texting while driving.

Wheeler was instructed by David Haviland, who commented that this is the first time a student from New Kent has won in a category at the state level. Wheeler’s video can be seen on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB4MnBY6Ki8.
