The Chickahominy Health District will be partnering with several local community partners to kick off the New Kent County Community Health Improvement Planning (CHIP) on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

New Kent based organizations and community members are invited to take part in the process, which serves to help identify health priorities by reviewing the results of the recently completed Community Health Assessment.

“We are excited to bring the community together to select health issues and collectively develop strategies to address the needs of the community,” said Emily Hines, the Chickahominy Health District’s Community Health Coordinator.

Current local community partners include the Chickahominy Indian Tribe Eastern Division, New Kent Economic Development, New Kent County Fire and Rescue/Emergency Management, New Kent County Parks and Recreation, New Kent County Public Schools, Proclaiming Grace Outreach, Senior Connections, Victim Witness, and VCU Health-New Kent Emergency Center.

Topics will focus on findings and determining priorities, as well as discussing personal strategies for improving the community’s overall health and wellbeing. Priority goals will be set for improving the county’s health over the next five years.

The meeting will be held at New Kent County Sheriff’s Training Room, located at 11995 Courthouse Circle, New Kent, beginning at 10 a.m. A virtual option will be available for online participation.
