Honoring Deputy Doris

Former Charles City Deputy Doris Banks (left) is honored by Charles City County’s Board of Supervisors with a proclamation for her years of service to the county. Banks was the first female officer in Charles City, dedicating 34 years of service while under the leadership of five different sheriffs. Among her key duties include being the first DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officer, going into the county schools and teaching kids on reasons not to use drugs through puppetry. Banks also assisted with court duties as well as assisted in the community outreach programs. Making the presentation of a resolution is Charles City District 3 representative Byron Adkins Sr.
