Region 1 ‘Teacher of the Year’

Above, New Kent High School Career and Technical Education Teacher John Aughenbaugh (center) is recognized as the Region 1 Teacher of the Year during a surprise ceremony Monday morning. Joined by Virginia State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lisa Coons (right) and New Kent Superintendent of Schools Brian Nichols (left), Aughenbaugh was selected as New Kent’s Teacher of the Year in January and now moves forward as a finalist for the Virginia State Teacher of the Year. Below, students reveal a banner to surprise Aughenbaugh and celebrate his accomplishment.
