Crawley campaigning to become sheriff of Charles City County

Jayson Crawley has announced his candidacy for the position of sheriff in Charles City County.

“My passion for serving my community began at the age of 15 as a member of the Charles City Volunteer Fire Department,” Crawley said in a press release. “I have maintained a successful career in public safety since that time, employed with Charles City County Sheriff’s Office for 19 years and the last six-and-a-half years with Surry County Sheriff’s Office.

“I feel that there are some good people currently working within the sheriff’s office,” he continued. “It is my belief that with the proper leadership, training, mentorship, and guidance, that they can excel to even greater heights and capabilities in service to our community.”
